The Extragalactic-Astronomy Team @ DiRAC (EAT) is a group of astronomers and engineers solving some of the most pressing questions in high-redshift astrophysics — how do the first galaxies form stars? Where does quenching begin in high-redshift systems? What is the connection between black hole feedback and galaxy evolution?
The projects we’re presently working on include:
- Rubin Observations of High-Redshift Galaxies.
- Morphology and Structure of Millions of Galaxies across Cosmic Time.
- Spatially Resolved Photometry and Spectroscopy of Strong Gravitationally Lensed Systems.
- Modeling Stellar Populations and Quenching Timescales in Massive Galaxies in the Early Universe.
We are heavily involved in understanding the Universe via the following facilities:
- JWST — the space-based infrared spectroscopic and photometric observatory, operational since 2022.
- The Simonyi Survey Telescope with the Rubin/LSST Observatory.
- The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
- The Euclid Observatory.
- The Apache Point Observatory.
