Biography

Dr. Gourav Khullar is a Baum Postdoctoral Fellow for Innovative Astronomy at the University of Washington, USA. He received his PhD in 2022 from the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics and the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics (KICP) at the University of Chicago. He studies mass assembly and quenching of star formation in high-redshift galaxies and gravitationally lensed systems by measuring their star formation histories through spectrophotometric fitting and stellar population synthesis modeling. He uses optical and infrared spectroscopic data from facilities like the Magellan and Gemini Telescopes, the Nordic Optical Telescope, and Hubble, and is the PI/co-PI of two JWST General Observer programs to study massive and bright gravitationally lensed systems at cosmic noon and beyond (GO 2566, GO 4125).
